Highland Council awards the Village Hall £50,000 for its refurbishment project

We are delighted to announce that Highland Council have awarded the Village Hall £50,000 towards its refurbishment project.  We already have an ambitious plan in place for the Hall’s long-term sustainability.  It already has Planning Permission and the Building Warrant is in progress.  The original plan encompassed the refurbishment of the hall and toilets, with the focus on energy-saving, through funding from SSE’s Fairburn Wind Farm.  This was extended to a new extension to accommodate a high specification domestic kitchen, the formation of much-needed storage space, and fit-out of a commercial office.  Highland Cross have already awarded £10,000 for the kitchen’s internal fit-out, appliances and decoration.

The next stage will be to respond to queries from Building Control in order to obtain approval on final drawings and prepare a tender for issue to local contractors.  Now that we have a more substantial budget, we can forge ahead with the transformation of the Village Hall.

As spring approaches, you will soon see the impact of the Tesco Bags of Help award of £10,000.  Planters, signs and a bench are due to be delivered and installed once the necessary landscaping has been done.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of our funders and volunteers who have been instrumental in bringing about these changes.
