Volunteer at The Muir Hub

Muir Hub are now looking for some volunteers to help with certain tasks to help with the day to day running of the Hub.

Could you help in the office, welcome people, help develop and support our retail area, assist with events?

We are looking for people that could volunteer for a couple of hours a week.

Tea and Blether – Today 2pm-4pm in the Hub

A wee reminder that The Movers and Shakers group are running a Tea and Blether session in the Muir Hub today from 2pm-4pm.

This event is a dementia friendly event with lots of homebaking and chat. We will also be showing some old footage of Muir of Ord through the years.

We hope you can pop along and support this, all funds raised will go to the dementia resource centre in Dingwall.

Feis Rois at The Muir Hub

Feis Rois are interested in finding out what types of classes and workshops people would like to attend at the Muir Hub.
Thank you to those that have already filled out a survey for Feis Rois at the Muir Hub open day. We would like to give another opportunity to people to fill this in. It only takes a couple of moments and it details some of the classes Feis Rois can offer from singing to bagpipes and lots in between. This is a great opportunity and  will help them to plan what type of activities they could set up here in Muir of Ord.

The Muir In The Past – Help wanted

After the groups successful heritage display of the history of The Old Tarradale School for the opening of the Hub, the Local History and heritage group, now known as The Muir In The Past are looking for more members.

The group have worked on collating information and photographs to detail a timeline of the old School and its different uses through the ages, This was displayed in the Hub for the first few months of opening. The group has been given many items and photographs since that, that they are working on cataloguing and creating another display.

The groups next display will be about for the Muir of Ord Gala and they are looking for people to help put this display together as well as other key task such as –

Research and investigate aspects of local history

Arrange events and exhibitions

Catalogue and organise material relating to the history of Muir of Ord

The next meeting is Friday the 5th of May 2pm-4pm in The Tarradale Room in the Muir Hub

Working hours – Tuesday to Saturday 9am-4.30pm

Salary – Negotiable, depending on experience

Easter Holiday Events At The Muir Hub

As the School holidays start, minds may already be wandering to the wonderful thought of Easter treats and Chocolates but there is lots of other exciting things to get involved in this Easter Holiday.

Come along to The Muir Hub and take part in some of our events such as Spring in to Spring with the Highland Country Side Rangers, meeting in the Hub we will have a chance to learn about what to look for in our local ponds, do some craft activities and then venture out to explore the ponds and take part in Spring themed treasure hunt. This is a free event is on Easter Friday (14th of April) 10am-1pm . Suitable for all ages.

Back by popular demand, we have a Spring themed Messy Ness event on Thursday the 20th of April 10.30am-12pm. Education through sensory play and lots of fun. Tickets are £5

Muir Movies present…..MOANA….Fun filled Disney goodness. This popular film is based on Polynesian Mythology and is packed full of adventure, great characters and songs. Tickets are £4. 23rd April 2.30pm

The First Music Gig at The Muir Hub

ER POSTER_LANDSCASPE_HUBWe are delight to announce that The Muir Hub is one of the venues that local band Ernest Rambles will be launching their first C.D.

Ernest Rambles are an indie folk trio from Inverness playing up beat original songs written by front man Dave Rudge. Dave leads the band on vocals and acoustic guitar with Martin Bell on the double bass and Richard Bell on drums. The band have been in the recording studio in January 2017 to work on the release of their debut album. They are now celebrating the launch of the album with launch gigs in Inverness, Ullapool and Muir of Ord.
Joining the band on their gigs is SJ Downes a singer, guitarist and harmonica player from Liverpool. SJ describes his sound as  solo country-blues, folk, ragtime, old-time & any other time …
